1. Encryption & VPN Protocols
Bouclier virtuel : It uses AES 256-bit encryption for all traffic through its servers. It also lists ChaCha20 with Poly1305 for user data. OpenVPN is the main protocol, and OpenVPN (UDP) is the pick for speed.
PrivadoVPN : It pairs AES-256 encryption with multiple security protocols. You can choose WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2 from the settings menu. PrivadoVPN’s servers use disk encryption, but not RAM-only setups.
⚠️ Avertissement: PrivadoVPN hasn’t had a third-party audit. Virtual Shield doesn’t clearly publish its owner or entreprise address. Treat both no-logs promises as claims.
2. Kill Switch & Leak Protection
Bouclier virtuel : Its VPN kill switch blocks all internet traffic if the VPN connection drops. That keeps your real IP address hidden during short outages. Anonymous browsing helps mask your online identity on public Wi-Fi.
PrivadoVPN : The kill switch feature works in the Windows app and Android app. The iOS app lacks it. If the tunnel fails, your originating IP address stays hidden. DNS leak protection keeps DNS requests inside the tunnel to stop DNS leaks.
PrivadoVPN also added PhantomMode in 2026. It gives system-level privacy protection even during brief disconnects.
3. Speed & Server Network
Bouclier virtuel : Its server locations are limited to about 20 servers in 12 countries. Some reviews count just 11. It markets high speed servers, yet tests show U.S. servers dipping below 50 Mbps. Other speed tests rated it above average for such a small network.
PrivadoVPN : It runs roughly 330 VPN servers in 49 countries, though some reviews count 46. Local servers lost only 8-15% of speed, and long-distance links lost 10-25%. Tech Advisor notes Privado owns and operates most of its physical servers.
PrivadoVPN’s server network is still small next to rivals with more extensive server networks. The average provider runs about 1,600 servers. On the plus side, the free version matched paid speeds in tests, sometimes beating them.
💡 Résultat du test : Speed results vary by tester. One test saw a 48% average loss. Download speeds fell 71.6% and upload speeds fell 58.6%. Latency rose 83% in that same test.
4. Diffusion en continu
Bouclier virtuel : It can bypass geo-blocks on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Full access may need the Unrestricted Streaming add-on. That extra fee adds up fast.
PrivadoVPN : It unblocks US Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Amazon Prime Video. It can’t reach Netflix libraries in Australia, Canada, or Japon, or Disney Plus. BBC iPlayer access can change from server to server.
💡 Conseil de pro : Use WireGuard to get the most from its streaming capabilities. Pick the nearest VPN server for streaming services. Keep the VPN connected before you open the app.
5. Protection antivirus et anti-malware
Bouclier virtuel : It includes antivirus and malware defense for offline files and applications. Ransomware protection adds an extra layer on top of the VPN. Its special servers also block harmful websites before they load.
PrivadoVPN : It now offers Privado Sentry, an optional real-time antivirus add-on. Sentry handles cloud scanning, threat quarantine, and malware protection against malicious websites. It’s newer and lighter than Virtual Shield’s built-in tools.
6. Identity Protection & Dark Web Monitoring
Bouclier virtuel : This is where it pulls ahead. It monitors the dark web for your personal details and sends breach alerts. You also get resolution help, data removal, and personal identity monitoring.
PrivadoVPN : It has no identity theft tools or dark web scans. It protects your internet connection, not your personal records. You’d need a separate service for identity alerts.
If identity theft worries you most, this gap matters. Virtual Shield watches the places stolen data gets traded.
7. Extra Privacy Tools
Bouclier virtuel : Its ad-blocking servers stop intrusive adware before it loads. It lacks split tunneling and dedicated IP servers. Torrenting is allowed and works with mainstream P2P services.
PrivadoVPN : Its Windows app includes split tunneling called SmartRoute, and Android has it too. Paid plans add a SOCKS5 proxy for torrent clients. It skips multi-hop, port forwarding, dedicated IPs, and ad blockers.
8. Privacy Policy & Jurisdiction
Bouclier virtuel : It follows a no activity logs policy. But it’s based in the US, a 5/9/14 Eyes member. Reviewers also criticize its unclear ownership.
PrivadoVPN : It’s based in Switzerland, which has strong consumer privacy laws. It says it never logs browsing history, traffic destination, or data content. IP addresses and DNS queries aren’t logged either. It does collect email addresses and device identifiers, though not linked to activity.
Privado says its zero-log policy leaves nothing to hand over to law enforcement. Still, its policy suggests some data may be stored indefinitely. Many VPN companies publish transparency reports or warrant canaries, and Privado offers neither.
⚠️ Avertissement: Jurisdiction is an important factor for online privacy. A Swiss base helps, but only an outside audit proves a no-logs claim.
9. Apps & Customer Support
Bouclier virtuel : The VirtualShield VPN app is intuitive, but basic on macOS. Live chat runs 24/7. Reviewers call agents like Tom, Olivia, Amanda, and Pearl super helpful. Some customers say it was slow to respond on billing issues.
PrivadoVPN : Its desktop and mobile apps share a clean design across major platforms. Some users report slow connection times before a successful connection. There’s no map view, and the Windows app window can’t be resized.
Privado’s support offers email plus limited live chat, with no 24/7 coverage. Its support site is thin, so tech support answers take longer. Virtual Shield replies to Trustpilot reviews and thanks each valued customer. That helps the overall customer experience. PrivadoVPN does let you auto connect, so the app can automatically connect at startup.
10. Tarification et coût
Comparons les plans côte à côte.
| Plan | Bouclier virtuel | PrivadoVPN |
|---|---|---|
| Gratuit | ❌ | ✅ 10GB every 30 days |
| Entrée | Basic: $9.58/mo | 24 Month Unlimited VPN+ 3 free: $1.11/month |
| Milieu | Plus: $13.75/mo | 12 Month Unlimited VPN+ 3 free: $1.33/month |
| Top / Monthly | Ultimate: $20.41/mo | 1 Month Plan: $10.99/month |
Bouclier virtuel : It costs a lot more money than PrivadoVPN at every tier. You’re paying for antivirus and identity tools, not just a VPN. Many reviewers call it overpriced next to premium VPNs.
PrivadoVPN : Its long-term plans cost less than a coffee each month. You still get unlimited data, 10 connections, and a SOCKS5 proxy. Just watch the renewal rate after your first term.

🛟 Options d'assistance
Virtual Shield offers 24/7 live chat and paid phone help. PrivadoVPN relies more on slower email support.
🔒 Confidentialité et sécurité des données

Virtual Shield and PrivadoVPN solve different problems. Virtual Shield is a security bundle with a VPN attached.
PrivadoVPN is a lean VPN with fast speeds and a generous free tier. In our not so humble opinion, that free service alone earns a test drive.
Virtual Shield is a fine pick if identity theft keeps you up at night. Trustpilot reviews from satisfied customers praise its support team.
However, if you want privacy, streaming, and value, PrivadoVPN is the better choice. It also earns extra points for crypto payments and 10 connections.
