1. Encryption & VPN Protocols
OysterVPN: It supports secure VPN protocols: WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2. Some reviews say WireGuard is missing on the Android app. Check your VPN protocol options after you sign up.
PrivadoVPN: It uses multiple security protocols too: OpenVPN and IKEv2, plus WireGuard. Both tools encrypt traffic with AES-256. WireGuard beat OpenVPN in Privado’s streaming speed tests.
Here’s how OysterVPN presents its AES-256 setup.
2. No-Logs Policy & Privacy
OysterVPN: It claims a strict no logs policy and says it stores no user data. Its Irish base adds some legal distance from the big surveillance alliances. But no outside auditor has checked the claim.
PrivadoVPN: Its zero logging policy covers traffic destination, data content, and IP addresses. It says it has no browsing data to give law enforcement. It still collects email addresses and device identifiers. The privacy policy also suggests some data may be kept indefinitely.
⚠️ Предупреждение: Neither tool has an audited no logs policy. PrivadoVPN also skips transparency reports, warrant canaries, and RAM-only servers. Many VPN companies now offer all three.
3. Kill Switch & Leak Protection
A VPN kill switch is a crucial feature. Both apps include one, with some gaps.
OysterVPN: Its internet kill switch blocks traffic if your VPN connection drops. It also stops IP, DNS, and WebRTC leaks. That combo prevents accidental data leaks on public Wi-Fi.
PrivadoVPN: Its kill switch feature cuts your internet when the tunnel fails. That keeps your real IP address hidden. The Android app has it, but the iOS app doesn’t.
Below, OysterVPN shows how its IP leak protection and DNS leak protection work together.
💡 Полезный совет: Run a DNS leaks test right after setup. If your originating IP address shows up, switch protocols.
4. Серверная сеть и скорость
OysterVPN: Published counts range from 150+ VPN servers in 17 countries to 400+ in 35+. OysterVPN’s speeds feel fine on nearby servers but trail bigger rivals. Distant servers lose about 55% of your speed on average.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN’s server network has about 330 servers in 46 to 49 countries. One test showed a 48% average speed loss and an 83% latency jump. Another found local servers lost just 8–15%, and long-distance ones 10–25%. PrivadoVPN’s free version runs about as fast as the paid plans.
More servers usually mean less crowding on each one. NordVPN and Surfshark run more extensive server networks than either tool. For better connection speeds, pick a nearby server or the fastest server listed.
⚠️ Предупреждение: Results swing by location. In one speed test, PrivadoVPN’s upload speeds fell 58.6% and download speeds 71.6%. Run your own upload speed and download speed check before you commit.
5. Стриминг и разблокировка
Most people want a VPN for geo restricted content on popular streaming services.
OysterVPN: It unblocks Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Max, and ESPN+. It struggles with Хулу and Disney+. HD streaming can stutter, and 4K on long-distance servers is a stretch.
PrivadoVPN: It unblocks US Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Amazon Prime Video. It streams Ultra HD on local servers. It misses Netflix libraries in Австралия, Canada, and Japan, plus Disney Plus. iPlayer access also varies by server.
PrivadoVPN has the stronger streaming capabilities here. If you need dedicated streaming servers in many countries, larger providers are a safer bet.
6. Раздельное туннелирование
OysterVPN: Its split tunneling feature lets you choose which apps use the VPN. It only works on the Windows and Android apps. Mac and iOS users go without.
PrivadoVPN: It calls split tunneling SmartRoute in its Windows app. The macOS and iOS apps don’t support it. So both tools share the same gap on Apple devices.
7. Торренты и P2P
OysterVPN: It allows torrenting on every server. The kill switch and leak blocking add solid protection for P2P file sharing.
PrivadoVPN: It includes a SOCKS5 proxy, handy for torrent clients that support proxies. The free plan’s 10GB cap limits heavy downloading, though.
8. Дополнительные функции безопасности
OysterVPN: It bundles an ad and malware blocker that stops trackers and malicious websites. It also adds DDoS protection. You get both at no extra cost.
PrivadoVPN: It has no built-in ad blocker, multi-hop, or dedicated IPs. Privado Sentry fills part of the gap with cloud scanning and threat quarantine. PhantomMode is the newest of its advanced security features.
Here’s a closer look at OysterVPN’s DDoS shield.
9. Apps, Devices & Ease of Use
OysterVPN: OysterVPN apps include desktop apps for Windows and macOS, plus Android and iOS. All share a user friendly interface. There’s no native Linux app and no app for smart TVs or consoles. OysterVPN offers five connections, and no plan has unlimited connections.
PrivadoVPN: It covers 10 devices and offers native apps for Fire TV and Android TV. The PrivadoVPN app looks the same on every platform. These intuitive apps are easy to learn. You pick server locations from a country list, with no map view. Some reviews mention slow connection times on certain platforms. The Windows window also can’t be resized.
10. Ценообразование и стоимость
Давайте сравним тарифные планы.
| План | OysterVPN | PrivadoVPN |
|---|---|---|
| Бесплатно | ❌ | 10GB every 30 days (1 device) |
| Ежемесячно | 1-Month +2 Months free: $5.99/month | 1 Month Plan: $10.99/month |
| Ежегодно | 1-Year: $29.99/month | 12 Month Unlimited VPN+ 3 free: $1.33/month |
| Долгосрочная перспектива | Lifetime Access: $59.99/month | 24 Month Unlimited VPN+ 3 free: $1.11/month |
| Окно возврата средств | 30 дней | 30 дней |
OysterVPN: The short plans cost more than Privado’s long ones. Its real draw is the lifetime option. That pays off if the service lasts for years. Checkout is card or PayPal only.
PrivadoVPN: It’s cheaper on long terms and adds a free plan. Watch the renewal rates, which climb after your first term. It also accepts crypto.
