Сравнение характеристик
Both tools protect your online activity, but they get there in different ways. Below are 10 areas that matter most when you pick a VPN service.

| Бесплатный план | ❌ | ❌ (free antivirus only) |

| Лучше всего подходит для | Комплексная система безопасности | Budget streaming and beginners |
1. Antivirus Protection
Виртуальный щит: Antivirus and malware defense come inside the suite. It scans offline files and applications, not just web traffic. That’s a real perk if you want one app for everything.
AVG VPN: The VPN app itself has no antivirus. You get it from AVG Antivirus Free or a paid suite. AVG Ultimate bundles both, and the VPN works well with other AVG apps.
2. Malware, Ransomware, and Ad-Blocking
Виртуальный щит: Special servers block harmful websites, intrusive adware, and other malware. Ransomware protection is part of the package too. Pages load cleaner without ads in the way.
Ransomware and ad-blocking tools sit in the same dashboard.
AVG VPN: AVG’s Virus Scan & Cleaner handles threats on your device. The VPN itself focuses on traffic, not malware filtering. For extra blocking, you lean on the wider AVG suite.
3. Identity Protection and Dark Web Monitoring
Виртуальный щит: It monitors the dark web for your personal data. Real-time alerts flag a breach, and support helps you resolve it. That goes well beyond a standard VPN.
Dark web scans and personal identity monitoring run in the background.
AVG VPN: The VPN has no dark web scanning. AVG Secure Identity covers that as a separate product. You manage it alongside your other AVG apps.
4. Шифрование и безопасность
Виртуальный щит: AES-256 encryption protects every byte sent through its servers. It also uses ChaCha20 with Poly1305 for user data. A kill switch blocks the internet if the VPN drops.
AVG VPN: AVG uses AES-256 and a secure tunnel to its VPN server. Your ISP can’t read it on the way. The kill switch is on by default.
⚠️ Предупреждение: AVG Secure VPN’s default protocol, Mimic, is fast. But AVG shares few details about how it secures your data.
5. Privacy and Logging
Виртуальный щит: It follows a no activity logs policy for browsing history and IP addresses. The catch is its US base, inside the 5/9/14 Eyes alliance. Reviewers also criticize unclear ownership and бизнес address details.
A data removal tool helps shrink your footprint online.
AVG VPN: AVG doesn’t log your originating IP, DNS queries, or websites visited. It does log connection timestamps and data totals to plan capacity. Connection event logs stay for two years.
The Czech base falls under EU data retention laws. Transparency reports show past data sharing with authorities. No independent audit backs its privacy claims.
⚠️ Предупреждение: If security and privacy rank first for you, check jurisdiction. Neither VPN has a published independent audit we could confirm.
6. Серверная сеть и ее расположение
Виртуальный щит: It runs about 20 servers across 12 countries, though some reviews count 11. That’s small next to other VPN providers. Don’t expect high speed servers in every country.
AVG VPN: AVG lists 50+ server locations and over 700 servers. Independent counts range from 36 to 66 countries, mostly in Europe and North America. Picks include Canada, Australia, France, and the UK.
7. Speed and Protocols
Like most VPN services, both slow your connection a little. How much depends on the protocol and server.
Виртуальный щит: OpenVPN is the main protocol, and OpenVPN (UDP) is best for speed. Independent speed tests rate it above average despite the small network. Some US server speeds still dip below 50 Mbps.
AVG VPN: Mimic is the default protocol. Third-party testing found AVG keeps about 31% of base download speed and 19% of upload. That connection speed is fine for browsing, but large downloads feel slower.
8. Streaming
Виртуальный щит: It can unlock Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime by bypassing geo-blocks. But unrestricted streaming is a paid add-on. That cost stacks on top of your plan.
AVG VPN: Streaming servers come at no extra charge. One independent ranking placed AVG #29 of 61 for streaming capabilities. It unblocked US Netflix and BBC iPlayer. Regular servers may get blocked by streaming sites.
💡 Полезный совет: If your streaming services won’t load the site properly, switch servers and refresh. Netflix content changes by country, so pick the region you need.
9. Devices, Apps, and Support
Виртуальный щит: Basic covers three devices, below the five many premium VPNs allow. The family plan stretches to 15, and the site also mentions unlimited devices. Check your account’s simultaneous connections before adding a new laptop.
The app is intuitive but basic on macOS. Tech support runs 24/7 by live chat, and reviewers call it super helpful. Some still waited days for support to respond.
AVG VPN: One subscription covers 10 devices. Download the app from AVG’s website, install it, and click ON. You’ll see a VPN connected status in a few seconds.
One ranking put its user experience at #36 of 61. It’s simple, but it lacks advanced features like detailed protocol options. You can change server location anytime from the main screen.
✅ Setup fix: If AVG won’t install, check your device meets the minimum system requirements. If it won’t connect, check your internet and restart the app for a successful connection.
10. Ценообразование и стоимость
Price is an important factor for most buyers. Here are the plans side by side.
| Уровень | Виртуальный щит | AVG VPN |
|---|---|---|
| Бесплатно | ❌ | AVG Antivirus Free: Free (no VPN) |
| Вход | Basic: $9.58/mo | AVG Internet Security: $4.99/month (no VPN) |
| Середина | Plus: $13.75/mo | AVG Ultimate: $4.99/month (includes VPN) |
| Вершина | Ultimate: $20.41/mo | ❌ |
Виртуальный щит: Reviewers call it overpriced next to other premium VPNs. Add-ons for streaming, phone help, and Protection Plus cost a lot more money. You’re paying for the bundle, not the network.
AVG VPN: AVG Ultimate pairs the VPN with antivirus for less than VirtualShield Basic. You must commit to a year, though. The 60-day trial softens that risk.
Различные сценарии

|---|---|---|
| Ограниченный бюджет | AVG VPN | VPN plus antivirus for less |

| Stricter logging policy | Виртуальный щит | No activity logs |
| Large household | Виртуальный щит | Family plan covers 15 devices |
| Подходит для начинающих | AVG VPN | One-click main screen |
| Live human help | Виртуальный щит | Круглосуточный онлайн-чат |
