FastestVPN and PrivadoVPN both sell cheap privacy.
On paper, their prices sit close together.

The other bets on a lifetime deal and the Cayman Islands.
Speed, streaming, and trust split them in surprising ways.
This FastestVPN vs PrivadoVPN guide shows where each one wins.

Wat is FastestVPN?
FastestVPN is a budget VPN service run from the Cayman Islands.
It gives you a VPN IP address and encrypts your internet connection.
Azneem Bilwani launched the VPN company in 2016.
Its server network has around 800 servers in 49 countries.
That’s a small server network next to NordVPN or ExpressVPN.
The big draw is price, including a rare one-time lifetime plan.
Here’s a quick video walkthrough of the app.
SnelsteVPN
Pay once and cover 10 devices for good. Our full FastestVPN review has every speed result.
Prijzen van FastestVPN
FastestVPN keeps its plan list short. Here’s what each plan costs.
| Plan | Prijs | Het beste voor |
|---|---|---|
| 1 jaar + 1 jaar gratis | $0,83/maand | Beste waarde op lange termijn |
| Plan voor 1 maand | $5/maand | Short trips or a quick test |
| Exclusief levenslang abonnement | $40 | People who hate renewals |
Pricing verified October 2026.
Gratis proefperiode: There’s no free plan. A 7-day trial costs $0.99.
Geld-terug-garantie: Every plan has a 31-day money back guarantee.
📌 Opmerking: The yearly plan bills $19.95 upfront, about $1.66 a month for one year. The bonus year drops that to $0.83/mo. A dedicated IP address costs $1.49/month. Port forwarding is $1.20/month, and each extra device is $4/month.
⚠️ Waarschuwing: “Lifetime” means the life of the service, not yours. If the company closes, access ends.
Belangrijkste voordelen van FastestVPN
Here’s what makes FastestVPN worth a look:
- Levenslange prijs: One $40 payment covers you for good. Few VPN providers offer anything like it.
- Gecontroleerd beleid zonder logboeken: Altius IT audited the no logs policy. That’s rare for a budget VPN.
- Basis op de Kaaimaneilanden: The islands have no mandatory gegevens retention laws. They also sit outside the big surveillance alliances.
- 10 apparaten tegelijk: One account covers 10 simultaneous connections. That’s enough for a busy household.
- Built-in Extras: You get an ad blocker, malware protection, and a NAT firewall. Plans also include the PassHulk wachtwoordbeheerder.
- Brede apparaatondersteuning: Apps cover Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Linux. Browser extensions work in Chrome and Firefox.

Belangrijkste voordelen van PrivadoVPN
Dit is waarom PrivadoVPN het overwegen waard is:
- Ruim gratis abonnement: Free users get 10GB every 30 days and 12 free servers. It often appears on best free VPNs lists.
- Swiss Privacy Law: Switzerland has strong consumer privacy laws. The company says it can’t share browsing data it never keeps.
- Real Streaming Access: It unblocks US Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Amazon Prime Video. PrivadoVPN’s free version reaches US Netflix too.
- Unlimited Data on Paid Plans: Paid accounts drop the data cap entirely. They also cover 10 devices instead of one.
- Snelle lokale snelheden: WireGuard keeps nearby connections quick. The speed section below has the numbers.
- New Security Tools: Privado Sentry adds real-time antivirus scanning. PhantomMode, new in 2026, guards privacy during brief drops.

1. Servernetwerk
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN runs around 800 servers in 49 countries. NordVPN and ExpressVPN run thousands. Torrenting works on all FastestVPN servers, though torrent speeds are reported slow. FastestVPN’s servers also get crowded at peak times, causing slow speeds.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN’s server network is smaller still, at about 330 servers. The average provider runs around 1,600. NordVPN and Surfshark have more extensive server networks and outside audits. Most of PrivadoVPN’s servers are company-owned physical servers.
💡 Pro-tip: Some VPN companies pad counts with virtual servers. Check each server location you need before buying. Some reviews list PrivadoVPN in 46 countries, not 49.
2. Noodstop
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN builds a kill switch into its main apps. It cuts your internet if the VPN connection drops. It held up while testing FastestVPN on Windows. Still, some reviews vraag its reliability.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN’s kill switch feature works on Windows and Android. The iOS app still lacks it. Without one, your originating IP address can leak during drops.
⚠️ Waarschuwing: Whenever a VPN connection drops, confirm your real IP address stays hidden. A VPN kill switch only protects you when it’s switched on.
3. Encryption & Protocols
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN uses AES-256 encryption with WireGuard, OpenVPN TCP, and IKEv2. An Auto mode picks the best protocol for you. DNS leak protection sends DNS requests through its own servers.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN also uses AES-256 and multiple security protocols. You get the WireGuard protocol, OpenVPN and IKEv2. Servers use disk encryption, but they aren’t RAM-only.
Both apps share the same core VPN protocols. WireGuard is the faster VPN protocol in most tests.
4. Snelheid & Prestaties
Snelste VPN: Despite its name, FastestVPN isn’t the fastest VPN around. Third-party speed tests show download speeds dropping about 45% on average. Nearby WireGuard servers hit about 730 Mbps. Long-distance servers lose up to 55%, and upload speeds suffer most far away.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN reached 830–880 Mbps on WireGuard in one test. Local servers lost just 8–15% of speed, and distant ones 10–25%. Other tests were harsher, with a 48% average loss and 83% more latency. Connection times can be slow on some platforms. The free service matched paid speeds, sometimes beating them.
💡 Pro-tip: Your base internet speed caps any VPN. For FastestVPN, one test saw uploads drop only 22%. Ping held steady on one machine but rose 33% on another.
5. Streaming
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN has a streaming tab and dedicated streaming servers. They reach Netflix US, UK, Japan, and Sweden. Other streaming services include Hulu, Disney+, Hotstar, and Prime Video. Loads can be slow, and US Netflix quality sometimes dipped. Australian Netflix didn’t work.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN unblocks US Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Amazon Prime Video in Ultra HD. It can’t reach Netflix libraries in Australië, Canada, or Japan. Disney Plus is blocked, and BBC iPlayer works on some servers only. Still, its streaming capabilities are strong for the price.
⚠️ Waarschuwing: Streaming sites change their VPN blocks often. Results can shift from week to week.
6. Split Tunneling
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN offers split tunneling on Windows and Android. Its smart tunneling feature goes further. You choose sites that always use the VPN tunnel, even before you connect.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN calls its split tunneling tool SmartRoute. It works on the Windows app and the Android app. Netflix can use the VPN while banking web traffic stays local. There’s no split tunneling on iOS or macOS.
7. Privacy en logboekregistratie
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN claims a strict no logs policy, and an Altius IT audit backed it. Being based in the Cayman Islands means no forced data storage. The weak spot is reported DNS leaks and IP leaks on Windows.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN says it never logs browsing history, traffic, IP addresses, or DNS queries. It does collect emails and device identifiers, but not tied to activity. There’s no audit, transparency report, or warrant canary. Its policy says some data may be kept indefinitely.
⚠️ Waarschuwing: Run DNS leak tests right after setup on either app. Data leaks undo the whole point of a VPN.
8. Devices & Simultaneous Connections
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN allows 10 simultaneous device connections. FastestVPN apps cover Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Linux. The FastestVPN iOS app runs on iPhone and iPad. A router setup also protects an Apple TV.
Need more slots? Extra connections are a paid add-on. Browser extensions only protect browser traffic.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN’s native apps cover Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Fire TV, and Android TV. A recent redesign made the interface easier to use. The Windows and Mac apps look identical, and the mobile apps match. You pick servers from a country list, with no map view.
9. Extra beveiligingsfuncties
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN’s ad blocker and malware protection come free. A NAT firewall stops unwanted traffic before it reaches you. Double VPN servers route traffic through two hops. Dedicated IPs and port forwarding cost extra.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN has no ad blocker, dedicated IP, or multi-hop option. Instead, Privado Sentry is optional antivirus software with cloud scanning. It blocks malicious websites and quarantines threats. Reviewers still rate the free tier higher than the premium extras.
Paid PrivadoVPN plans also include a SOCKS5 proxy. It masks your IP for torrent apps with less overhead. These add-ons push it toward all-in-one online security.
10. Klantenservice
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN offers 24/7 live chat with real people, plus email. Replies come fast but can feel generic. Trustpilot reviewers praise the team, yet some found it unhelpful. The knowledge base search is weak.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN offers live chat and email, but not around the clock. Email replies are slower. The support site has limited content.
11. Prijsbepaling en kosten
Laten we de prijsplannen eens naast elkaar vergelijken.
| Plan | SnelsteVPN | PrivadoVPN |
|---|---|---|
| Vrij | ❌ | 10GB every 30 days |
| Maandelijks | $5/maand | $10,99/maand |
| Jaarlijks | — | $1.33/month (12 Month + 3 free) |
| Two-Year | € 0,83/maand (1 jaar + 1 jaar gratis) | $1.11/month (24 Month + 3 free) |
| Levensduur | $40 | ❌ |
Snelste VPN: FastestVPN is cheaper at every paid term. The lifetime plan beats any subscription if you stay a few years. Add-ons can push the real cost up.
PrivadoVPN: PrivadoVPN costs far more month to month. But its free plan costs nothing, and long plans stay close to FastestVPN’s rates.
Verschillende scenario's

FastestVPN answers live chat around the clock. PrivadoVPN leans on email, so expect slower fixes.
