The two-year deal works out to $0.83/mo. A one-time lifetime plan is also on offer, which is rare.

AVG VPN
AVG Secure VPN is the VPN app from AVG, the antivirus brand.

The app hides your online activity from hackers, ISPs, and governments.
It also guards sensitive data like banking logins on public Wi-Fi.

AVG subscriptions renew automatically. Cancel before the trial ends if you don’t want a charge.
AVG VPN
Here’s what AVG VPN does well:
- One-Click Setup: Launch the app and press ON. There are no settings to learn first.
- Kill Switch On by Default: The internet kill switch is active from the first launch. Many VPN apps make you enable it yourself.
- Ten Devices: One plan covers 10 simultaneous device connections. That’s generous next to many competitors.
AVG built Mimic to slip past VPN blockers. It sits next to OpenVPN in the protocol menu.
Dedicated servers handle streaming and torrenting. They reached US Netflix and BBC iPlayer in independent tests.
- Shared IPs: Many AVG users share the same IP addresses on each server. That makes traffic harder to trace to you.

FriestVPN: FastestVPN runs around 800 servers in 49 countries. NordVPN and ExpressVPN run thousands, so this is a small server network. With so few servers, peak hours can bring overcrowding and slow speeds. The company doesn’t say how many are virtual servers.
AVG VPN: AVG lists 50+ server locations and 700+ servers. Independent reviews count anywhere from 36 to 66 countries. Check the server list for your country first. Coverage leans toward Europe and North America, including Canada, France, the UK, and ออสเตรเลีย.
2. Speed & Protocols
FriestVPN: FastestVPN supports the WireGuard protocol, OpenVPN TCP, and IKEv2. One review hit about 730 Mbps on a nearby server using WireGuard. Reviewers testing FastestVPN saw downloads drop about 45% on average. Distant servers lost up to 55%.
Uploads slowed about 22% on one test computer. On a second machine, latency rose 33%, while the first showed no change. Our full FastestVPN review covers these speed tests in more depth.
AVG VPN: AVG Secure VPN’s default protocol is Mimic, with OpenVPN as the main alternative. Mimic is quick, but AVG shares little about how it secures traffic. One review rated its speeds acceptable, logging 31% (download) and 19% (upload) against base speed. In our own review, speeds trailed most VPN services.
No VPN makes your internet faster than your base plan. Pick a nearby server location for the best connection speed.
FriestVPN: FastestVPN offers streaming servers and a dedicated streaming tab in its apps. It reaches Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. US, UK, Japan, and Sweden Netflix libraries all worked in tests.
Results aren’t flawless. US Netflix loaded slowly in some tests, and the Australian library failed. On Prime Video, some pages needed a refresh before the site properly loaded. FastestVPN servers allow torrenting everywhere, but P2P speeds are reported as slow.
AVG VPN: AVG runs dedicated servers for streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Its regular servers often get blocked, though. One ranking placed it 29th of 61 VPNs for streaming capabilities. US Netflix and BBC iPlayer both worked.
4. Encryption & Privacy
FriestVPN: FastestVPN uses AES-256 encryption and a strict no logs policy. A third-party audit by Altius IT confirmed it keeps no activity or timestamp logs. That’s a strong record for a VPN this cheap.
A built-in NAT firewall also blocks unwanted incoming traffic before it reaches your device. Overall, FastestVPN packs more security features than AVG.
AVG VPN: AVG also uses AES-256 encryption. It says it doesn’t log your originating IP, DNS queries, or browsing history. But it does record connection timestamps and data volume for capacity planning. Connection event logs stay on file for two years.
AVG is based in the Czech Republic, which follows EU data retention rules. Its transparency reports show past data sharing with authorities. No independent audit backs its privacy claims yet.
If privacy is your main reason for a VPN, AVG’s logging is the bigger risk.
FriestVPN: FastestVPN includes an internet kill switch on Windows, แมก, Android, and iOS. If your VPN connection drops, it cuts internet access to stop data leaks. Some reviews คำถาม how reliably it works.
DNS leak protection sends DNS requests through FastestVPN’s servers. Still, DNS leaks and IP leaks have been reported on the Windows app. After you install FastestVPN, run DNS leak tests on your Windows computer.
AVG VPN: AVG’s kill switch is on by default, a smart choice for beginners. If a connection error appears, AVG suggests checking your internet and restarting the app. Its leak protection is less documented than FastestVPN’s.
6. Split Tunneling & Smart Tunneling
FriestVPN: FastestVPN offers split tunneling on its Windows app and for Android users. Smart tunneling goes a step further. It routes chosen websites, like Netflix, through the VPN tunnel before you open the app.
AVG VPN: Split tunneling is one of the advanced features AVG lacks, based on our full review. Either all traffic goes through the VPN or none does. That’s simpler, but less flexible for banking apps or เกมส์.
7. Devices & Simultaneous Connections
FriestVPN: FastestVPN apps cover Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Linux. The FastestVPN iOS app and the Mac apps share the same clean layout. A router setup covers devices like an Apple TV.
One account allows 10 simultaneous connections across phones, laptops, and tablets. FastestVPN’s apps also let you buy extra slots if your household grows.
AVG VPN: AVG apps run on Windows, macOS, and Android and iOS mobile devices, but not Linux. Our writer also ran it on an Android TV. Like FastestVPN, it covers 10 devices on one subscription.
FriestVPN: FastestVPN’s ad blocker stops ads and malware while you browse. The PassHulk password manager comes free. Browser extensions protect browser traffic in Chrome and Firefox. A dedicated IP address, double VPN servers, and port forwarding round out the extras.
AVG VPN: AVG’s strength is its wider security suite. AVG Ultimate pairs Secure VPN with antivirus software in one plan.
The suite also includes a virus scan and cleaner for your PC. It checks files and apps for threats on a schedule you set.
AVG also sells Secure Identity for identity protection. It’s a separate product, so it isn’t part of the VPN itself.
FriestVPN: FastestVPN offers 24/7 live chat with real people, plus email support. Agents respond fast, but answers can feel generic. The knowledge base has setup guides, though its search works poorly. FastestVPN’s customer support gets mixed reviews overall, with Trustpilot reviews often praising it.
AVG VPN: AVG routes VPN help through its main support center, shared with its antivirus products. Its guides cover install steps, connection errors, and system requirements. Support here feels built for the whole AVG lineup, not the VPN alone.
Here’s how the plans line up side by side.
|---|---|---|
1 | 1 Year + 1 Year Free: $0.83/mo | AVG Antivirus Free: Free (no VPN) |
2 | 1 Month Plan: $5/mo | AVG Internet Security: $4.99/month |
3 | Exclusive Lifetime Plan: $40 | AVG Ultimate: $4.99/month |
FriestVPN: FastestVPN is cheaper over almost any time frame. The two-year deal and the lifetime plan both undercut AVG. Add-ons like a dedicated IP push the total up, so buy only what you need.
AVG VPN: AVG makes sense if you want antivirus too. AVG Ultimate covers both under one bill. If you only need a VPN, you’ll pay more than with FastestVPN.
